Born in Tehran, Faezeh Zandieh began her academic journey studying architecture before fully devoting herself to the visual arts. After mastering oil painting and manual printmaking, her focus turned sharply toward human anatomy and the intricate psychological forces surrounding the physical body. In recent years, her raw talent and compelling compositions earned her national and international acclaim, including winning the prestigious KHOR Art Initiative in 2023 and participating in a residency supported by the Bullukian Foundation in Lyon, France.

What makes Zandieh’s work particularly captivating is her unique thematic perspective. Rather than adopting a conventional gaze, she uses her brush and etching plates to enter and expose the unvarnished world of male vulnerability and aggression. Her series, Gozar (Passage), was born out of a real-world encounter when she accidentally witnessed a violent street fight between men. This sparked a profound artistic investigation into the systemic pressures of masculinity, depicting men caught in perpetual conflict, fragile brotherhoods, and heavy solitude. Through sprawling physical landscapes and intensely raw figures, she captures a heartbreaking tragedy: how rigid societal expectations force men to suppress their inner selves.

Today, while continuing to develop her art in France, Zandieh’s work resonates deeply against the backdrop of the complex realities of contemporary life. Her narrative is not one of mere criticism, but of profound empathy and human connection. Whether working with delicate copperplate etching or bold oil canvas, Zandieh invites viewers to look beyond surface-level hostility and recognize the universal longing for understanding, healing, and peace in an increasingly fractured world.
